My week with Marilyn

Some people might be confused, so lets start with clearing some stuff out. This movie in NOT a biographical film, and that's why its called " My week with Marilyn". 

Now that being said, I walked into the movie theater not knowing what exactly to expect but to my surprise, was absolutely blown away. I was initially very reluctant to accept Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe, one of the most beautiful and glamorous women of all time, but she was extraordinary. The film entire is top-notch. The entire cast is fantastic. Not to forget the set pieces, cars, and costumes all capture that time period incredibly well, too.

This movie showed the character from two aspects; one as the star Marilyn Monroe and second the person without the fame. 

The screenplay manages some keen observations on the nature of celebrity obsession, the art of acting, and depression that people sometimes tend to forget. Personally, I never knew Marilyn had another sad side, rather I always thought of her as the most beautiful woman of her era.

I recommend watching this movie and I would consider it one of the best for this season !

Watch This: Johnny English

If you're in the mood for a good laugh, then you must watch Johnny English. Its playing in the theaters in Kuwait, and the censorship is not that bad, you still get what is going on in the movie.
I kept thinking I was watching a good old Mr. Bean episode.


Some scenes are downright hilarious. 


Don't expect a serious plot and point of the movie, but its not that silly either. Just good old comedy.

I saw this movie a few days ago and I recommend watching it.

Its a different side to "September 11". Also, its a good perspective on Muslim Americans- something that might be new to us Arab Muslims. Unlike 99% of 9/11 movies, they focused on different aspects of that day, as opposed to focusing on the "monster Muslim terrorist".

I don't know how she does it!

A film starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Pierce Brosnan and Greg Kinnear. A movie about a hard working mother named Kate (SJP) and how she maintains her hectic schedule. That's actually pretty much it about the storyline. Watching it is more like a TV episode than a movie. I was kinda disappointed because it didn't discuss anything other than her running all the time. And it didn't have a story that can stand out or a good sense of fashion. All the mothers out there do work that hard! so whats new?! I just think they should call movie " I don't care how she does it!".

PS: I would give it 4 out of 10.

Green Lantern

 

If you are a comic book fan who reads Green Lantern since the late 80s. I don't really recommend watching the movie. For a superhero that can create anything he can imagine with his mind, the Green Lantern's creative team failed to create good characters, special effects and weapons. With all the technology we have they could have done so much better. The filmmakers are under the impression that audiences will accept anything! But when it comes to acting I think everyone did a great job. I would rate this movie 5 out of 10.

The Lincoln Lawyer

Lincoln Lawyer is a thrilling drama about a cocky and smooth defense attorney. In this movie you will actually be shocked by Mathew Mcconaughy performance. Seeing him in this role just assured me that McConaughey can carry movie without having to take off his shirt in every scene. This is a movie you could see in some American series that are on television these days. But I like how the way they made it for the big screen. The movie is about a lawyer who finds out that his client is the murder for another crimes that he worked on in the past. The plot line was fantastic and it left me on the edge of my seat, the script was enjoyable, with both serious dramatic scenes to funny lines that left the whole theater laughing.


PS: I would give this movie 9 out of 10.

The Rite

 

I read a lot of reviews about this movie and I was thinking about watching it for a while since I'm not a fan of horror movies. But I personally found it interesting and a more true to life representation of what an exorcism is. The best part of this movie is that its very realistic, you don't see heads spinning around or really scary scenes (Hint SAW) also the movie was all about the storyline without using any unneeded scenes to get attention or Oscar nomination (Hint Black Swan). Anthony Hopkins did a great job playing the role of Father Lucos.

PS: I gave it an 8 out of 10. Well worth the watch

Just go with it

 

I just went and saw this movie .. I REALLY loved it ! such a good movie with a great cast ! I would scale it 9 out of 10 ! Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston did a great job.. the movie is about Danny (Adam) who finds his dream girl and with the help of his assistance Katherine (Jennifer) to pretend that some of the things he said about himself are true..

not all of the romantic comedy movies out there are good but this really movie is a perfect combination between comedy and romance.. the connection between Adam and Jennifer is very believable!

PS: must see ! 

Little Fockers

Going to the third movie of this series after the last one in 2004 (Meet the Fockers)... I thought it wont be as funny as the first and the second ... but it was interesting to know that it is still a funny and worth watching movie .. you can see how all of them grew old and still have the same funny characters ... we also have new characters appearing like Jessica Alba, in which she plays a new unique role.

PS: there is a part four for this series!  

How Do You Know

I went to watch this movie on Friday night. I took break from studying for the finals and went to see it. But .. what a waste of time !! the movie didnt really have a straight forward story or a meaning behind it. I think they just wanted to make a movie with all the actors in it like Witherspoon, Wilson,Rudd and Nicholson, so they decided to make one full of kharboo6a story! I dont know how they agreed to do it but I guess money will let you do any part ! To cut it short, no story, no meaning , no sense of fashion .. NOTHING !

PS: I DONT recommend watching this movie unless you really really have nothing to do :)

The Tourist

Finally saw it ! the movie is great and worth watching, not because of Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp. The story is very thrilling yet elegant and romantic.. I cant say that much about the movie coz I dont want to ruin it for you.. The only think that I can say is WATCH IT the movie and believe me you wont be disappointed

PS: Angelina Jolie looked GORGEOUS and CLASSY in every scene ! its amazing how she can go from tom boy (Salt) to such an amazing elegant woman + Johnny Depp was very charming too !

Tangled :)

After the princess and the frog .. Disney wasn't satisfied with the results .. so they decided to do the princess story again but in a more promising way... Tangled is a story about a princess with a magical hair ! The animation of this movie is amazing especially the backgrounds are gorgeous ! so far its the best animated movie I have ever seen, its worth seeing in the theater ! everyone in this movie looks pretty except the evil mother .. the princess hair is the center of the story and its soo cute how she carries it around ..

PS: Everyone will enjoy the movie .. parents don't worry you can take your kids and enjoy your time as well ! (Not boring ) 

Unstoppable

Denzel Washington and Tony Scott.. as soon as you hear these two names you know its gonna be a good movie .. and on top of that Chris Pine too ! The story is really simple which is also based on a true story that happened back in 2001 but I wont spoil the movie (lips are sealed :) ) ..
overall i would rate the movie 8/10 just because Denzel had done better movies .. I still would recommend watching it .. plus its not that long ( 1 hour and 38 minutes) good movie to pick if you wanna kill time


PS: if you are planning to watch the movie .. prepare yourself for a thrill ride from start to end..

Due Date

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Zach Galifianakis, Michelle Monaghan. I went to this movie couple of days ago and I'm very glad I did ... the movie was hilarious .. the movie is about two friends who took a trip across the country .. and along that a lot of events occurred  ... these two actors are amazing .. they both played each role perfectly ... especially Zach!!! I loved him after the hangover and in this movie is character is sooo funny !
I would rate that movie 8.5/10 ..so go out and watch it :)

PS: not recommended to be seen with parents :p  

For Colored Girls

I went yesterday to see this movie .. I was very excited to see it .. men the past months o I always hear about it o about the actors who are going to appear in it and the production .. The movie is produced by Tyler Perry.. there are many big names who appear in this movie like Janet Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, Thandie Newton and more..( There are 20 characters in this movie)
This movie is based on the play: "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf".. Where in it they show different issues that women might face and with each issue comes poem (So do the math ! )...  At the beginning of the movie I was ready with my popcorn and drink !! by the first 30 minutes of the movie I got bored ! there was a lot of poems and sobbing and tragedies .. I knew that the movie would talk about women issues BS 3AD COME ON mu chethee ... everything bad happened at the same time!! I wanted to enjoy the movie at least (mu kela nikad)!!
Overall, The movie had good production and cast but they abused it with the poems and tears !

P.S: in this movie Janet Jackson appears with short hair which actually looks good on her
