A7bech ya Kuwait - Shamlan AlBahar

I am Shamlan Tawfeq Al-Bahar, I am married to the lovely Alaa al Ebrahim and the father of Aziz and Lulu Albahar, I'm 32 years old. I'm interested in anything creative including cinema, art, novels and music. I'm an ACII holder from the University of Guildhall London.
My first job in the Marketing field was Kuwait United Group, a leading publisher of leading magazines as well as a provider of advertising mediums. My role at the company was to lead the development of ‘Star’ magazine, Kuwait’s first tabloid. At KUc, I worked with editors, content managers, creative studio, and advertisers to get the project off the ground in 2 months.  After that I joined M-Net, a mobile payment start-up jointly owned byNBK, Zain, and Alshaya, to help re-align the company’s marketing strategy and boost sign-ups after a period of stagnation. I then joined Arabian Motors Co. (AMG) to build and lead the company’s new Marketing Communications division on the group level. But deep down I wanted to do something special to serve my dear country.
So between jobs I tried to start small enactives to make Kuwait a better place to live. My start was in 1996 when I started the English Literature Community in Kuwait University to help the students know more about the language than the text books. Also co-founded P2BK with Dhari AlWazzan and Mrs Nouf AlJinaie ,co-founded of BESS political movement for athletic reform resulting in reformation of outdated laws and regulations through the Parliament of Kuwait (year 2007) then I started the Five60 concept (a concept house that offer rooms to display merchandise and other services) along with miss Ansam AlRadwan and miss Amna il Salim and it was amazing because we had huge success using nothing but facebook marketing and between all of that I am a photographer.
Finally, I started my own company Pink coffee marketing and PR.Pink coffee is a marketing & PR company offering a wide array of services meant to develop the local market and the region with innovative ideas, new concepts, and different approaches. Their specialty is not limited to filling the needs when it comes to serving their clients and this is where the name comes from, a new idea that inspires their purpose – creating the nonexistent. 50% of pink coffee focuses on making Kuwait a better place by starting our own initiatives. We did 4 initiatives in 2010. The Proteges is a 6-week program for young people between the age of 16 and 24. Why should you take part? To improve your social, practical, professional, and personal skills through fun activities, interactive discussions, and classes guided by talented mentors. We intend to help you learn to enrich your lives through your own experiences at the program. We have designed The Proteges to help you understand yourselves and appreciate how you are connected with the norms of life and society, with the "do's and don'ts" and "the cool and not-so-cool". Afterall, anything we do has an effect on the greater whole not just ourselves.
The second is Mutubtub, Mutubtub is the first childhood obesity awareness campaign. Mutubtub was lunched in November after schools started. It has an aggressive PR agenda where it plans on reaching out to Kuwaiti families and educating them about obesity through unique marketing tools ranging from comic strips and t-shirts to games and phone applications. The campaign is highlighted through national events and outdoor activities that will help the children interact with one another and with the campaign. The third is Small to BIG,program founded to support small business owners, not financially, but through interactive short courses intended to help small businesses grow, develop, and prosper. This took place in Kuwait.
Following the success of Small to Big one, a more advanced program launched for another group of students and this time it was held in King's College in London.
Our future plan is proteges second generation.

I hope we bring the past to the future for a better Kuwait.
